Our Goal
It is our hope that we can assemble 3 or 4 older "community" members and 4 to 6 youth. Our primary outreach of this community will be to 16 and 17 year old boys, who are too old for Children's Aid Society and too young for the men's hostels. It will not be a depot for spoiled kids who don't want to follow the rules of their parents. There are MANY young people who find themselves in a hostile family situation and must leave. There are those too who are simply unwanted, often bouncing back and forth between divorced and remarried parents.

It is not our intention to "cure" these boys with programs and counselling. We are not qualified to do this. Our goal is to simply care for and respect them, something they may not have ever experienced. We hope to accomplish this by insisting on a common meal time, helping out with chores in the kitchen and yard, and by playing together: music, ping pong, hockey, foosball, etc.

Our Community
The community of "elders" will consist of both men and women who are 21 or older who desire to live in this type of Christian community and who have a heart for helping those in need. They should have some experience in dealing with teens. They will typically be single adults.

At present there are 2 "elders" living at Don Bosco Home:
Greg Mailloux
-- retired high school teacher (Assumption, St. Joseph's) after 31 years
-- leads the music at Assumption church's Sunday evening Mass
-- writes and records music (5 CDs)
-- other hobbies: hockey, photography, computers
John Christenson
-- professional home renovator (design, forms, drywall, plaster, paint)
-- proud father of 2 children
-- involved in Assumption church's music ministry and St. Vincent de Paul Society
-- hobbies: writing, music
-- Brentwood alumni
